On 20th October 1920, the inaugural meeting of the Tauranga Yacht and Power Boat Club was held, nearly 100 members signed up for the first season.

20th October 2020 thus signifies that TYPBC is 100 years old.

Whilst the club is no longer at their original clubhouse under the railway bridge on The Strand Extension, the club has continued to flourish.

The First event of the 2020/2021 celebrations will take place on the clubs opening weekend (9,10,11th October 2020).

The Main Events though will take place over Easter 2021
